Renowned for its basilica, Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume is at the western department, at the limit of the Bouches-du-Rhone, in the heart of Green Provence, between Aix-en-Provence and Brignoles. Small town bustling with numerous events and markets of Provence.

Third tomb of Christianity.

The basilica dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene, whose construction was decided by the second Charles of Anjou, is the largest Gothic building in Provence. It contains the crypt Gallo-Roman (fourth century), the reliquary containing the relics of Mary Magdalene, the sarcophagi of Saint Maximin, Saint Marcelle and Sainte Suzanne St. Sidonius. It also discovers its wonderful organ of the 18th century, the work of Jean-Esprit Isnard Brother. He was saved the Revolution by Lucien Bonaparte who was playing "La Marseillaise".

Open to visitors, the former royal convent of the Dominicans (XIII-XV century) with its cloister and its monumental halls also reveals a garden with majestic trees.
