The village Saint-Maurice-de-Ventalon, which gives its name to the town, is situated beside the mountain called "Ventalon, on the Mediterranean side of the den. Saint-Maurice is the name of the patron saint of the old Catholic parish of the place. The chief place of common Saint-Maurice is situated at 1000 meters altitude in central district, virtually on the line of divide between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea, which lies at the Col de la Croix of Berthel. At the same neck intersect the two major county roads.

The sights are on the town: the farm, converted from Troubat who visit the site of the oppidum of Monschau, the fortified farm of Aubaret.
