In the extreme south-east of the department, near the southern Drome and Vaucluse High, Saint-Martin-d'Ardèche belongs with its surroundings in the Mediterranean world. A region dominated by vineyards (Côtes du Rhône southern) and the olive-backed with large areas of scrubland first drilled through the canyon of the River.

Surrealist painter Max Ernst lived there (years 1938-40) and, before him, the bishop of Viviers, Tournon, Claude, it was built (early sixteenth) a castle facing the eyrie Aiguèze.

The former fishing hamlet-dependent Aiguèze boatmen on the borders of the Duchy of Uzes, Vivarais County, became the tourist area on the edge of the long axis of the Rhone valley, the southern gateway of the Gorge Ardeche.

St. Martin is "Green Station Vacation".

• Castle Grove (early sixteenth): Open house every morning from 9.30am to 12pm in July and August.
