St. Leger, with its 497 inhabitants, lies on the eastern slopes of Mount Beuvray.
The inhabitants are called Saint-Léger-sous-Beuvray Léodégariens.
The village of Saint-Léger spans a vast public square. At the town hall, an exhibition hall shows some archaeological discoveries made in the territory of the municipality, including a Gallo-Roman funerary stele.

St. Leger, Bishop of Autun in 659, this scholar famous for his charity, but also by conflict with the lords of the period, particularly Ebroin, Mayor of the Palace of Neustria, who had him assassinated.
