Saint Laurent was born in the presence of a ford on the Gorre connecting two nodes prehistoric inland ridges. Saint-Laurent-sur-Gorre named after one of the most venerated saints of the Roman Church: the deacon Lawrence was martyred in Rome in 258. Created in the Merovingian period, the parish set up its church near a ford on the Gorre, strategic since prehistoric times, at the intersection of Salt Route and Route metals.
The rolling farmland to the valleys, which form the territory of the commune, is criss-crossed "paths peaks" offering multiple perspectives on the horizon.
