The first occupations ... Traces of prehistoric occupation were found on various sites of the town. Similarly, the dolmen Peyrelongue indicates a human presence dating from the Neolithic. The earliest writings of the parish appear at the 14th century. Yet the church is dated to the 13th century by some architectural elements.
The castles ... Two small castellanies mentioned one at a place called the Gardella and the other Castellot. There are only two towers called "English" in the hamlet of La Gardelle.
The episode of war ... The Hundred Years' War was the most tragic for the parish because of the presence of two castles from which radiated the band of brigands, pillaging and massacring the English or French according to their interests. The intervention of the Seneschal of Perigord with the support of Sarladais ended it and the two castles were razed. In 1453, there remains a ruined church.
Several names ... Over the centuries, the town changed its name often. In the 17th century it was called "Saint Laurent Castelnaud" name era of feudalism on the lordship of Castelnaud. By decree of November 20, 1903, made on the proposal of the Minister of the Interior and Religious Affairs, it takes the name of "Saint Lawrence Valley. Creek Valley is a resurgence of such Vaucluse. According to legend, Saint Laurent had refused to give the treasures of the church during the persecution of the 3rd century.
Emerging from the depths of valleys, we find on the shelves of large views of a valley to another depicting a landscape with wooded aspect in the presence of farms and hamlets surrounded by meadows and cultivated fields. Amid the undulating terrain, the wealth of this county lies in the balance between the wild woodlands, agricultural openings are places alive and moving, and a host of tourism more widely that anime hamlets.
