The village of Saint-Lary-Soulan is in the Aure valley, high mountain. Located on the road to Saint Jacques de Compostela, Saint-Lary-Soulan result of the merger of the communes of Saint Lary Soulan and completed in 1963 to allow the extension of the ski and road access. The inhabitants are, as Saint Hilary was formerly Saint Lary Gascon translation of Saint Hilaire Bishop of Poitiers.

Saint-Lary, Spa is the gateway to the Parc des Pyrenees a few miles from Spain.
