The village owes its name to St George and rivers Rosay.
The first mention of the village date from the 13th century.
Agriculture and livestock are the main activities of the village to XIXe. From that time, we are witnessing the emergence of other activities such as manufacturing of fabrics, lime and tiles.
Today Saint-Georges-du-Rosay is a charming village that attracts many lovers of heritage through his sublime fortified church.
SIGHTSEEING
The church: Originally Romanesque, it was fortified in the 16th century during the wars of religion. The exterior is flanked by two watchtowers. Listed building, the building houses a unique church furniture, also closed. Among these objects, sculptures, including a Madonna and Child of the eighteenth century, paintings from the 17th and ironwork. Outside, you can admire a beautiful sundial.
