Saint-Donat is located north of the Drome and more precisely in the Drôme des Collines 12 km from Romans and 25 km from Valencia.

With the advent of Christianity was called Saint-Donat Jovincieu or Jovenzieux. In 732, with the Saracen invasion, Corbus, Bishop of Grenoble Jovenzieux fled to bringing the relics of Saint Donatus died in the 6th century to Sisteron, hence the name of Saint-Donat.
