TOWN PRESENTATION

The common Saint-Denis-du-Payré, located in the heart of the Community of Communes born of the Sea and overlooking the western part of the Marais Poitevin, was long the spearhead of a rocky headland of the Gulf of Pictons, and thus a point strategic.

Common average, with an area of 1600 hectares with a current population of around 373 people, occupies a position between plain and rewarding in the vast marshes group consisting of the Natural Park of the Marais Poitevin Interregional. Common mid-mid-marsh plain, created by the monks of Saint-Michel en l'Herm which were the forerunners of drying out the swamp from the 11th to the 13th century.
