While a monastery or a Benedictine priory was established on the town, the existence of the village is confirmed that the 13th century. The convent building had disappeared into the 12th century.

The high and mighty square tower of the 16th century is flanked by a round turret with a spiral staircase. This fortress dominates the church Saint-Benoît 12th and 14th (keys available in town hall).
