Village cited the 13th century chapel around 1250 referred to the location of the cemetery of the village Hammerstatt, quoted in the Middle Ages, has completely disappeared; devastated village in 1446 and since the 3rd quarter of the 18th century, the church is the center of the city.

The village was the seat of a Roman site now destroyed. Rumersheim became property of the Habsburgs in 1259 and was part of the lordship of Landser. PARISH Rumersheim prior to 1300. The locality appears under the names of successive Rumersheim the 13th and 14th centuries, Romersen the 15th century and Rummerszheim the 17th century. Rumersheim belongs to the Bailiwick lower Landser. In 1361, a portion of fees collected in the village falls, as the noble fief castral Zur Laube. Rumersheim was not spared by the wars in the 15th century, the village was looted and burned by the Swiss troops, and August 26, 1709, on his ban, there was a great battle where 20,000 men clashed. These were the troops of Marshal de Bourg (France) and Comte de Mercy (Austria). On this occasion, the villagers have been ordered to evacuate the wounded and identify the dead who were thrown into the Rhine. There were 131 killed and 1200 respectively the French and Austrian side. Finally the host site Rumersheim several military buildings: the 18th century, a redoubt to be built east of the village on the Rhine. The church will be built in the 18th century in 1782, partly at the expense of cure Munch. In 1879 a fire destroyed many farms. During WWI, the German units stationed in the village build a line of railway serving a large ammunition depot and refueling for the sector Viel-Armand. Finally, the village became a French outpost after construction of the Maginot Line. The village will be released February 9, 1945. Since 1978, the village no longer drinking places.
