A small narrow and winding road has already prepared you to discover Rougon. At a bend, Rougon has emerged, nestled under a huge rocky outcrop crowned by the remains of a medieval castle thrown in as a challenge to the vacuum. Alone amidst a setting stripped, peaceful village, with views to Rougon unchallenged over the Grand Canyon du Verdon and an exceptional panorama of the surrounding Alps of Haute Provence.
The Chapel of St. Christopher, patron saint of travelers, with its porch recalls seventeenth, Rougon that was a thoroughfare for centuries for pilgrims and travelers, from the Var by the medieval bridge of Tusset thrown on the Verdon and wishing to join the Roman road from the hills, only communication channel between Castellane and Moustiers.
