Located halfway between Nantes and the coast, the city of Rouans is primarily a rural, characterized by the wealth of landscapes under the sign of water. The town is actually located near the south bank of the estuary of the Loire, in the course of Acheneau River outlet of Lake Grand-Lieu.

• La Chaussee-the-Retz is an old Roman road, the Pont de la Messan Floor (1713) goes.
• Many mills are located on the town with the mill of the vines, chemin des Moulins.
• Buzay Canal was dug in the 18th century to facilitate navigation between the Loire and the lake of Grand-Lieu.
• Nearby is the Tower of the Abbey of Our Lady of Buzay, known as the Tower of Buzay, which is all that remains of the Cistercian abbey founded by Bernard of Clairvaux in 1135 and burned during the French Revolution, during the Wars Vendée. The tower was rebuilt in the late 18th century.
• The Rectory Street of cure, date of 1775.
• The stone church flamboyant Gothic style, built between 1900 and 1904, has a magnificent rose window. It houses the oldest ciborium Nantes retained and only the 16th century.
• At the Budonière is a small 18th century chapel that is the chapel of a former leper colony.

• The film Le Grand Chemin Jean-Loup Hubert was shot in Rouans in 1987, with Richard Bohringer and Anemone. A circular walk with the name of this film is also: Circuit du Grand Chemin (23 km / 5:45): Take the shady paths, discover the slopes of Rouans and a flora and fauna very diverse.
