The city-city, located 45 km south of Toulouse, has a prestigious heritage due to its status of free city in 1202 and Royal judgeship in 1245, many monuments are the witnesses.

From medieval times, in 1317, Rieux-Volvestre becomes very important that a bishop last five centuries. The village has many relics of that period.
