TOWN PRESENTATION

A little geography: Puzieux is located north-east of the Vosges plain, near the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle. This municipality is part of the Canton of Mirecourt. South of the village is located the approach ramp of the airfield Epinal-Mirecourt. The territory of Puzieux is a little rugged plateau crossed by streams of stones and OELLEVILLE. The village rises to an altitude of 287 m and unfolds before a succession of hills that form the cuesta relief.

A little history: The village of Puzieux, parish of Saint Remy, was under the patronage of the Abbey of St. Menne Poussay, Diocese of Toul, provost of Dompaire, bailiwick of the Vosges, the supreme court of Lorraine in 1711. The village was destroyed during the Swedish invasion during the war of 30 years. This was a time very sad and painful. Puzieux suffers the French armies, aided by their allies, the Swedes, who ravaged and plundered the village. It was in 1633 during the reign of Louis XIII. There remained only 3 of Puzieux houses. Only after 1670, when the Treaty of Ryswick Lorraine restored to its rightful Duke "Leopold" that the village was rebuilt. Currently many indications that the village Puzieux is merging with two other villages also destroyed by the Swedish army: Méréville and Fontenelle.

SIGHTSEEING

This farming village has retained its traditional character. The old building is characterized by a diverse typology. It contains the master house, the laborer and that of Manouvrier who all kept their charm and their characteristics.
