Located in the heart of the Aude, between Carcassonne and Narbonne, Puichéric is a charming town Minervois with just over 1,000 inhabitants. With its history and its traditions, wine is the main activity.
From a geographic standpoint, Puichéric is nicknamed the Venice of the Minervois. Indeed, no fewer than three rivers crisscross the territory of the municipality: the Canal du Midi, Aude and finally Rigole (which also crosses the pond to dry Marseillette), thus offering picturesque landscape.
Currently expanding, said the village will economic development associated with maintaining the quality of life related to rural areas. This town has all the shops.
History Puichéric through his castle: The castle first Puichéric, probably dates from the 6th or 7th century. The rock Puichéric, outcrop of excellent building stone had to immediately attract the attention of the conquering Visigoths (412). And the name of Puichéric Podium Theodoroci Terrece the Pech of Theodoric (the mountain of Theodoric) the most famous Gothic princes with Alaric the second appears to confirm this hypothesis. In 1355, the fortifications were ruined by Puichéric English Black Prince, and their stones were used to trace the current enclosure. The castle will host the latest "Father of Two Seas Canal" Paul Riquet. The castle has a very interesting past and is in itself an enormous wealth, but it can not be visited because it is privately owned.

Frozen for eternity, these works of art to the delight of boaters who pass this lock: humor and irony, jokes, legends, characters and objects diverted from their traditional function, thumbing its nose at the established art .. . It hangs in the current Singularity Art and Art Brut, and nicknamed the horse Factor boating. Features!
Between the two locks, a small stone bridge over the canal. This is the place closest to the village and many houseboats make a stop at this place.
There is also a laundry room located between the old stone bridge and the lock of the needle where once, the women of the surrounding countryside came to wash their clothes.
Note also on the banks, near the laundry and all along the canal, "fourcadelles" wood (from the Occitan means fork). These places are usually good fishing spots and you will probably meet a lot of fishermen on the canal.
