Since the Middle Ages, Pouancé mark a real border between Brittany and Anjou. This strategic position is the double name of "Gates of Anjou, and Marches of Brittany. As one of the 32 closed cities of Anjou, she has retained some of its medieval walls and some of its entrances.
Rural community, located on the borders of Anjou, at the intersection of four departments, Pouancé stayed away from the bustle of large urban agglomerations that are surrounding Angers, Nantes and Rennes.
SIGHTSEEING
The Medieval Castle (thirteenth and fifteenth centuries), a historical monument in 1926. Guided tours during the summer from 19 June to 2 September on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and Sundays at 14:30 to 10:30 (departure of the tourist office).
The sailing of the lake of Saint-Aubin: Beach lifeguard from June 30 to September 1 (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 12:30 and 13:30 to 19:30). Pedalo hire from June 23 to September 1 (Monday to Friday from 15h to 18h and Saturday and Sunday from 15h to 20h).
Fireworks and burning of the castle every July 14: As every year, the city invites you to its traditional fireworks show on July 14 which will be drawn at 23 hours, from the castle. An orchestra will be present in the pre Fuye, you can enjoy both before and after the show and keep the party! Your children can come to City Hall, at 22 hours for the parade with lanterns together with the municipal band.
Days of Augustus, street theater, every first weekend of August: Share the madness of companies streets still more astonishing than the other! This day full of laughter is always organized by the Theatre Company of Heyoka Pouancé. Three of burlesque shows succeed streets downtown, on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. (fallback to gyms for inclement weather). Free. Come run your zygomatic muscles!
