Pontrieux is located at the bottom of the estuary (the estuary) river of 71 km, Trieux. This makes the site has been inhabited since ancient times. Pontrieux means bridge over the Trieux, in Breton, "Bridge Trev. Township Pontrieux:
- In addition to its main town, township Pontrieux is very rich and just walk in the surrounding communities to discover small chapels located on the edge of a wood: Chapel Clérin St. Cletus, the chapel Saint Jorand to Plouëc du Trieux or the chapel at St. Maudez Quemper-Guézennec.
- Many are the mansions that have survived after many vicissitudes during troubled times: Kermodest at Quemper-Guézennec and the Ty-year-Bonniec to Brélidy, Kerlouet at Quemper, who gave birth in 1744 Fleuriot Langle, friend of La Perouse, the second commander of the expedition ship, killed in Samoa, the mansions and Kerprovost Kercabin at Plouëc, and those of the Cloister at St. Cletus Kerglas of Kermarquer of Belle Fontaine, Ploëzal ...

- Runan (229 inhabitants) is proud of his church (XIV), one of the finest in Britain, built by the Knights Templar, frequented by pilgrims en route to Saint Jacques de Compostela. - Ploëzal (1190 inhabitants) on the territory's most famous monument of the region, possession of the Department: the castle of Roche-Jagu, rebuilt in the 15th century on the foundations of a fortress from the 11th to watch for browsing the estuary Trieux and prevent invasions. - Brélidy (335 inhabitants) and his manor Ty Ar Bonniec (1590-1610) who, with the feudal Pen-year-Castel, forms a picturesque site inscribed in 1943. This manor is now known as Castle Brélidy.
- Quemper-Guezennec (1040 inhabitants), besides the manor Kerlouet, introduces visitors to several chapels, crosses the bridge Frynaudour at the confluence of Leff and Trieux, its small port-Vilinic Goas and his church (St. Peter late nineteenth century), whose windows are classified by the Fine Arts.
