Chief town of the district located 15 minutes from Clermont-Ferrand.

The site seems to have been well chosen: a large promontory high above the Limagne suddenly interrupted on the south by a cliff at the foot of which runs the largest rivers of Auvergne: Allier. Elsewhere, soft hills once covered with vineyards down to the rich plain grid cultures surprising.

• Culture Pont-du-Château side:

• The castle was built by William de Beaufort-Montboissier Canillac the mid 17th century through a financial contribution to his friend Mazarin, minister of Louis XIII. Since 1913, it is classified a historical monument.
• The bridge from the 17th century, fir trees per year in 2000, built Brassac, carried the coal to the capital.
