Parly was once a stronghold belonging to the Cathedral Chapter of Auxerre. Robert Bishop of Nevers who erected on this land, a defensive structure to protect his diocese, Chapter challenged this violation of property rights. Robert Nevers amends the canons, probably by the construction, the late 11th century, the lovely Romanesque church whose octagonal tower evokes the religious architecture of Cluny. This building, the jewel of the village, cap the hill harmoniously. It is surrounded by houses well typed combining stone jambs iron, bricks, coated with "sand Rabbit" and tile Burgundy, surround concentrically as to protect it. The town is not just the village, since most of the population - which totals about 800 people - is divided into hamlets and equally enjoyable in the municipal subdivision. Parly was among the purveyors of ocher villages in the region (with Digestive and Pourrain) from the mid 19th century and knew at that time, a strong economy. Moreover, the chestnut owned landscape and agricultural heritage. The town is reflected in a picturesque pond that attracts fishermen in the summer. Finally Parly can hope to give her mite to the cultural life of the region through the Centre of Graphic Art Metairie Bruyere, known nationally.
