  • Creeks received, pebbly beaches or sand, red rock cliffs falling into the orange sky blue of the Mediterranean, the Gulf of Porto is one of the sites leading scuba diving in Corsica. With various locations such as Punta Mucchilina (limit of the Scandola Nature Reserve), Vandiola they offer divers a unique trip. Warning!   • The Scandola Nature Reserve:
  • Scandola offers an explosion of color in his landscapes and fantastic cliffs, punctuated geological curiosities or 'taffoni' hollow sculpture shaped by wind and salt spray. On the red cliffs clinging vegetation: myrtle, mastic, euphorbia tree, oaks, arbutus, heather and tree cysts up to 500 meters.

  • Founded December 9, 1975, Scandola Reserve was the first dual mission to France: marine and terrestrial. Its area is 900 hectares on land and 1000 hectares marine. The peninsula of volcanic farm north of the Gulf of Porto, French first natural site inscribed on the World Heritage List of UNESCO. Since 1982 it belongs to the network of marine and coastal Mediterranean specially protected. Exemplary management earned him the degree of category A European Natural Reserves awarded in 1985 by the Council of Europe, renewed in 1990 and graduated in 1995.
  • The reserve is primarily notable for its geology. It occupies the Scandola peninsula, an impressive, porphyritic rock mass distorted shapes. The vegetation is an outstanding example of scrubland. There are gulls, cormorants and ospreys.
  • The clear waters, the islets and inaccessible caves, host a rich marine life. There are more than 450 species of algae. For some, Corsica is the only choice Mediterranean area. Side vertebrate abundance is remarkable, 125 species were inventoried, especially for those that have become rare in the Big Blue: grouper (Epinephelus marginatus or), the grouper (Epinephelus alexandrinus), the dentex (Dentex dente). Upstairs subtidal, the most conducive to marine life, temperature changes and variations are moderate saline. Life here is developing smoothly. Nothing hinders the photosynthesis of plants and animals, they find their food and the food chain, no matter how complex it can become established.   • The cove Piana:
  • Between Piana and Porto, the road clings to narrow and winding coastal road in beautiful red granite walls that plunge into the sea ... This is "the Creeks of Piana.   • The Gulf of Girolata: after the village of Osan, the heart of a site listed under the World by UNESCO, the hamlet of Girolata (accessible only by trail or by sea) offers visitors a landscape must. The port village of Girolata, famous for its magnificent fort, became the scene of a historic event recognized. Because it was formed in 1540 as the general prisoner Lieutenant Barbarossa, Dragut.
