• The Casemate Rieffel? Oberroedern: Casemate Oberroedern formerly South is one of five bunkers located on the municipal bench Oberroedern. This double bunker two floors was built in 1933. It was part of the main defense line, and between Hatten Schoenenbourg. In 1939-40, it housed about twenty soldiers. Located right in the area chosen by the Germans to attempt a breakthrough of the fortified line, she took an active part in fighting in June 1940 under the command of Lieutenant Rieffel. Severely bombarded by the 246th Infantry Division (where the bell was killed a watchman still bears deep scars on steel), and then bombed by Stukas, it nonetheless contributed to counteract the German assault.
