Nogent-le-Bernard name comes from the Latin "novus Bernardi people", that is to say "the new people of Bernard", name of the first lords of La Ferte which depended the parish.
The town now attracts many hikers through trails but also with a unique history and heritage.
The church of Saint Jouin de Marnes: listed building, dating from the 11th and 12th centuries. The building was subsequently enlarged in the 17th and 18th centuries when it was fortified (presence of a murderous swing). Guests enter through a magnificent Romanesque doorway. Inside you can admire numerous terracotta statues including that of St Jouin, protector of the church. We also note the presence of a visible wooden roof, typical of local architecture.
The menhir Courtevrais: Top of 5.40 meters and 4 meters wide, this megalithic monument (listed building) is evidence of ancient human presence. Around the menhir, there are many stone slabs, which is at the place the name "field of stones." The menhir is located on private property.
Castle High Flash: Recently restored by the community of 301 Maine municipalities, it dates from the late 16th and was rebuilt in the nineteenth. It was the scene of royal activities. Girls Sallet, lord, were even considered "the heroines and the Amazons of ancient chouannerie". The castle was then sold and has long served as an elementary school (hence the inscription on the pediment). Near the castle, there is a dovecote dating from 1611 with a guard room and a floor with 800 pigeonholes.
