This small town of 300 residents is named to mills that were installed on the banks of Ouanne.
From the 5th century to the Revolution, it was the property of the bishops of Auxerre.
In the 11th century, Hugh of Chalon divided his land Puisaye Mills and raised in fief of the barony of Toucy and in fief, and bishops.
The lords of Toucy will, in turn, enslaving lands Mills.
Castellanies names appear in the chronicles until the 15th century, but they are probably past:

Over time, these three manors, two have become firm while Pont-Marquis remained a castle.
Since the 16th century, owners who have succeeded - including Assigny (XVI-XVIII) allied to Courtenay - have expanded and transformed the castle.
The church of Saint-Denis (fifteenth and sixteenth centuries), built on a hill overlooking from its high tower and elegant turret, this small village poyaudin.
Over time, on-Moulins Ouanne originally farming village, is experiencing economic diversification with presence of businesses and artisans.
