TOWN PRESENTATION

History:

The original and Mouans Sartoux are two distinct communities. By 1350 as many villages in the region, and Mouans Sartoux are abandoned (insecurity, plague).
In 1496, Pierre de Grasse, then lord of Mouans brought 60 families "Figons" in the region of Genoa to repopulate its territory and going with them an act of dwelling. It was then that the village is built.
In the spring of 1858, Mouans-sartoux officially born. Napoleon the third combined the two communities.
Town of rural tradition, the economy has for a long time Mouans-Sartoux been oriented agriculture (vineyards and olive trees). In the 18th century, the education of silkworms was also an economic activity in Mouans. Indeed the cadastre of 1738 mulberry trees are mentioned in various districts, especially in the area of Grand'Pièce, belonging to Lord Mouans, a building, the silkworm is "to make silk." She worked until the 1940s. And more recently the perfume plants (Jasmine, Rose of May). There are still some fields of flowers near the Tour de Laure which it is used in the detection of forest fires.
The Chapel of San Bernardino is the 15th century (private White Penitents).
Place du General Leclerc were many lime kilns that the municipality decided to stop because the administrative authorities were not hygienic. In 1861 the surface is recovered in a public place for drying grain. This place will be tiled in the same year.
In front of City Hall, the Place du Grand Pré (Jean Jaurès and De Gaulle) was an ancient threshing and drying grain.
More recently the town received three flowers in the regional competition of Towns and Villages in Bloom.

SIGHTSEEING

Area of Concrete Art:

Located in the castle of Mouans-Sartoux whose triangular architecture used in the creation of its logo, Espace de l'Art Concret continued for fourteen years a program of exhibitions, mostly thematic, which allows a reflection on art and society and cross confrontations between various artistic expressions.
Opening hours: From September 1 to June 30, Wednesday to Sunday from 12h to 18h, from 1 July to 30 August every day from 11h to 19h.

Donation Albers-Honegger:

This new green building Donation of Albers-Honegger was inaugurated in June 2004 by the Minister of Culture and Communication. The rooms of the Donation Albers-Honegger offer a beautiful echo those of the gallery of the castle, playing on the same confrontations inside / outside, near / far, nature / culture.
Opening hours: From September 1 to June 30, Wednesday to Sunday from 12h to 18h, from 1 July to 30 August every day from 11h to 19h.

Museum "Reflections of a rural world": This ethnographic museum established in the former stables of the castle, to discover or rediscover the traditional activities of the country from 1900 to 1950 in Grasse. It has three exhibition halls and was made possible by donations from families mouansoises, solicited by Mado Giraud and collected for years by the Centre for Cultural Activities Occitan.
Gardens of the International Perfume Museum:

Installed beautifully in the middle of fields of fragrant plants traditionally grown in the Pays de Grasse, the gardens of the International Perfume Museum are part of the project area conducted by the Urban Community Pôle Azur Provence and become the conservatory plants perfume the International Perfume Museum in Grasse, a natural indicator of olfactory landscape related to local agriculture.
Located at the foot of the city aromatic, these botanical gardens offer two hectares a delightful walk through the fields and fragrant roses in May, jasmine, orange, tuberose, violets and many others. In parallel, the gardens of the International Perfume Museum give way to fields of the old culture, faithfully restored and maintained as naturally as possible. EVENTS AND CELEBRATIONS

It is said that Mouans-Sartoux is a village celebrations. Among others, organized the flower parade in April, one of the highlights of the festivities Mouans-sartoux, marking the arrival of spring. Organized by the Festival Committee, the parade will offer its spring colors. Similarly, the book festival in October attracts over 50,000 visitors, 150 exhibitors, 250 authors and over 3 days.
