At the edge of the Forest of Fontainebleau and installed on the banks of the Loing, the fortified 12th century belonged to the royal domain. In 1120, Louis Le Gros 6th erected in castellany. It then comprised 1356 meters of ramparts, turrets twenty three doors and a dungeon. Some relics are still well preserved today and contribute to the charm of the city. Porte de Bourgogne (to visit) and Samois Gate (the Gate of Paris) have kept look great on both ends of the Rue Grande. Since the Impressionist painter Alfred Sisley and his friends have discovered Moret-sur-Loing, many artists from all countries come to ask their easels.
Do not miss the bridge, the gates of the city, ramparts, tower, Notre Dame and his Renaissance organ, called the facade of Francis 1 and its unusual history, Renaissance houses, the house and the grave Sisley, the House of Sucre d'Orge (specialty of the Religious of Moret).
You can also visit the Municipal Museum, the Musée du Sucre d'Orge, the Conservatory of Cycling, the Priory of Pont-Loup and picture galleries of the city.
For lovers of water sports and relaxation at the waterside, the Loing offers the possibility of rowing, canoeing, boat cruise or electric boat. Note the presence of an artisan glacier to the greatest delight for walkers.
