| TOWN PRESENTATION |
Joint Township Lagrasse Montlaur is in a pleasant valley at the end of the Val de Dagne, at the foot of Mont Alaric, 24 km from Carcassonne. It is located in the department of Aude, Languedoc-Roussillon and the territory of the Corbières. The village of Montlaur is situated in a valley bounded by mountains to the north and south of Alaric the hill from the shell. The creek runs through the village of mattes and empties into the Orbieu.
Its location, very fortunate, enables its inhabitants as well as holidaymakers take advantage of both the sea in summer (Mediterranean beaches 60 km) from the mountain in winter (100 km), while benefiting from advantages of living in rural areas (peace, nature, space).
Vineyards, forests, moors, fields and rivers make up the hilly surroundings.
The village enjoys a Mediterranean climate and belongs to the second sunniest region of France.
On the hills above the village are: The mills of the Couscouillède Bissat and mills, now converted into houses. These mills are witnesses Bannier abundant grain crops (wheat, rye, oats) before the explosion wine. The castle which there are only a few stones. The botanical trail of Alaric stretches 3.5 km between 275 and 350 m above sea level and offers a pleasant walk with great views while enjoying the flora of the region. Two circuits are proposed.
The trail of sculptural Mayronnes for lovers of contemporary art, monumental sculptures scattered along the hiking trail of 5 km.
The trail poetry of Villar-en-Val, where the visitor can read poems and thoughts from Joseph Delteil throughout the shaded path.
Leaving Montlaur the east, it passes through the magnificent gorges Congoust, not to be missed!
A Rieux-en-Val, a magnificent 12th century bridge spanning the Alzou.
Between Montlaur Lagrasse and a footpath leads to the Chapel of Our Lady of Carla, overlooking the valley (1 hour round trip).
The Priory of St. John, former possession Templar, will welcome you with his picnic table built in the ruined walls of the chapel.
