Montjaux is a town located in southern Aveyron, 9 km north of Saint Rome de Tarn. Its territory extends entirely within the Regional Natural Park of Grands Causses. Hanging on the south side of Plateau Lévézou, the set consists of two highly contrasting identities. Right bank of the Muse: Lévézou. Left bank of the Muse: Causse Rouge.

Montjaux comes from the Latin "Mont Jovis. A temple dedicated to the worship of Jupiter would have existed at the top of this mountain, which later carried the original castle.

• The 12th century Romanesque church is the chapel of a former Benedictine monastery. The capitals with figurative decorations of animals and plants are among the finest in the Rouergue. The dome, which replaced the old bell tower dated 1838.
