  • Concept Montigny-sur-Vesle History: Excerpts from Montigny-sur-Vesle over time:
  • Montigny-sur-Vesle covers 946 acres and has 461 inhabitants, the village is dominated by Mount St. Michael (200 m). Set in a variety of plains, hills, valleys planted with vines and bushes, it forms a pleasant and scenic delights visitors and its inhabitants.

  • In February 1814, during the campaign in France, against Napoleon, 2-300 Prussians were seen in Montigny, 2000 Napoleonic Hussars of the Guard occupied the town and cut off the decks of the Vesle Reims before returning to participate in the Battle, March 20 of that year, a Russian column came to plunder the village, the inhabitants were so afraid they fled into the woods.   • The Germans settled in the village for four years, houses were requisitioned for their services or their homes, the Gestapo moved to the "castle" Jonchery street.
