The town is a royal bastide founded in 1297-1298 by Guy de Caprari. Among the beautiful houses in pink limestone-tan, a house in the watchtower, a house with a window Renaissance, the old rectory. There is only one door and some sections of the ramparts of the walled enclosure.

In the forest surrounding the village are a lot of dry stone huts (or the gariottes caselles) and laundries.
