Montalieu-Vercieu is a small town north of the Isere department on the left bank of the Rhone, the limit of the Ain department and 45 minutes from Lyon. This town enjoys a green and relaxing landscape formed by the hills of the Isle Crémieu one side and the cliffs overlooking the Rhone Bugey on the other side.

Montalieu-Vercieu is known worldwide thanks to its stones. Indeed, the town is located inside a basin carrier where the stone is quarried from Roman times. Great monuments as the Empire State Building in New York were built with stones Montalieu, as well as the traditional houses of the town and surrounding villages.

Another great natural wealth Montalieu-Vercieu is the Rhone. The river is still wild in this place, expands and provides a large body of water around which tourism activities are developed in a leisure complex called the Blue Valley.

The Blue Valley provides large and small a multitude of activities in a remarkable Aquapark (largest heated swimming pool in the region), Jet Ski, ATV, karting, car amphibious floating saucers, adventure in trees, tourist steam train, water activities (rafting, hydro ...), traditional games, fishing, 4x4 center, marina ... The routes for hiking, horseback riding and cycling are also numerous in the vicinity.

To discover the history of the basin carrier, the visit of the House of Stone and Cement is unavoidable. This traditional house is a museum in the original staging that presents and explains the history of mining techniques and size of stone, cement production, and the history of men who worked Montalieu material.
