Medieval village in Gascony. Its history dates back to 930 when he became the first capital of Astarac with the counts of Biscay (Arnaud Garcia) who built their castle on a motte still visible today.
In the late 15th century stone gate tower was built to complete the defense. The Lordship of Mount belongs to viscounts of Aure-Larboust until 1571 and then to the family of Beon-Massed and finally to that of Timbrune.
During the Revolution, Mont Astarac was a time canton as the Mountaineer. A long decline began then but the village retains its two annual fairs until 1955.
The discovery of murals by Jean-Michel Lassure (University Toulouse Mirail) in June 1968 in the church dedicated to Saint Laurent gives the village a certain notoriety and made a historic site that allows visitors to see today and passionate interest in their heritage.
