Between Sologne and the Beauce, the beautiful city of Meung-sur-Loire offers charm and poetry. Small town of 6388 inhabitants is located near the royal river, the Loire, 17 km from Orleans to Blois 35 km and 145 km from Paris. In the Sleeper Du Val, Arthur Rimbaud wrote "This is a green hollow where a river sings??" Meung-sur-Loire is a bit like a town between Loire and Purple, between Beauce and Sologne, in the heart of the Val Loire Valley of Kings. A location is both peaceful and dynamic, where it takes its time and the time to live but all full of energy.
It is a showcase for treasures
The castle the two faces of the bishops of Orleans, with a medieval facade and a 18th century facade, is a hotbed of architectural treatises where the centuries have left a borrows.
A jewel of religious heritage: The collegiate church of Saint-Liphard proudly stands and contemplates the Loire for nearly a thousand years.

- Meung Castle is one of the largest and oldest castles of the Loire Valley. Until the Revolution, it was the residence of the prestigious Bishops of Orleans and hosted big names in the history of France. It starts with the first castle that served under the treaty of 861 between Robert the Strong, King Charles the Bald, which marked the beginning of the rise of the Capetian dynasty. Castle Meung was also a strategic location in the conflict between the English to French during the Hundred Years' War: Joan of Arc freed him after his victory at Orleans. Many kings made a halt as Francois 1er, 7th or Charles Louis XI. It had its moments of glory, especially on the eve of the Revolution when the Bishop of Orleans Jarente de la Bruyere invests his entire fortune to create a small Versailles. The castle also has its dark side: he served in prison. Its most famous prisoner was the poet Francois Villon. Acquired from the Revolution by one of the founders of the Bank of France, the Chateau de Meun has for some years a private house open to visitors.

- Municipal Museum - The Cultural Center mints: Since November 2005, the museum Meung-sur-Loire welcomes you in fully refurbished premises. Now it is part of the new Cultural Center of the city dubbed "The mints. Thus, a tribute is paid to the office occupied by the 17th century at this spot, a "House of Money", where you hit a copper coin: the Liard. The museum consists of three permanent exhibition spaces, which make up the Cultural Center of the coin, and a temporary exhibition space:
- Presentation bibliophile books and rare Francois Villon, Jehan de Meun and the Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas. These books relate to books on authors who were crossing Meung-sur-Loire (François Villon and Jehan de Meun) as well as editions of the Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas (the first pages evoke the city Meung-sur-Loire). They want to be precious works and rare editions. This collection is from 1994. Most items have been acquisitions of the municipality. Sights: The oldest book dates from 1521. Beautiful facsimile color illustrated Roman de la Rose kept in New York.
- Collection of Mr. Francis Quatrehomme: archeology, paleontology and numismatics. For nearly forty years, Francis Quatrehomme harvested and collected various archaeological and paleontological he found in the vicinity of Meung-sur-Loire, Beaugency and Thenay (Loir-et-Cher), and in its resorts. Come discover fossilized shells collected on the beaches of the Loire, objects and stones from the eras of the Secondary and Tertiary, as well as many parts accla reconstituting human life (eg, arrowheads, tools, pottery ...). Sea faluns Touraine is represented by the presence of sharks teeth and pliopithèques (distant cousin of Rights) but also by the teeth of small fish, beavers, deer, rhinoceros, crocodiles, mammoths ... Meanwhile, a collection of coins from different countries and periods is presented in the desk of Mr. Quatrehomme, we will discover the currencies of the Roman Republic, Gaulish coins, and almost all the coins minted under Roman emperors and kings of France. In an authentic setting, the collection Quatrehomme was reconstituted as it was in Francis Quatrehomme. Curiosity is the desk of this self-taught, which plunges us into another time ...
- Gaston Couté, his life, his work (1880 - 1911): Poet-songwriter libertarian of the Butte de Montmartre (Paris), Gaston Couté spent her childhood in Meung-sur-Loire. In his texts, a number is written in dialect Beauce, generally denouncing injustice and social misery ("Revision," "The hussy," "The speech traîneux). The exhibition features photographs, drawings and poems are interpreted by many renowned artists (B. Lavilliers, E Piaf, G. Pierron, B. Meulien ...). Discover this unusual character who portrays the difficult life of the working class ("The hay press," "Christ in Wood," "voters"). Starting his career as an artist in Orleans, "The field of naviots" determined his departure for Paris at the age of 18. Gaston Couté was a great success in the cabarets of Montmartre, but also those of Chateauroux, Rouen, Brussels, London ... In 1910, Gaston written cost incurred in magazines: The Bulwark, but especially the Social War ... Finally, you can admire his talents unsung designer with illustrations and cartoons original and unpublished. Unreleased: Manuscript of the poem "Redemption" text not found since 1911 and presented exclusively. Museum presentation enhanced with new windows.

- The world's largest collection on fencing and dueling, set out in 5 rooms of a castle from the 17th and 18th century.
