The village of Metz-le-Comte is situated on a plateau (alt. 230 m) at the foot of a hill, "the Mountain", which rises to 300 m, offering superb views of the Morvan. On this hill stood a castle of which only the chapel. Become Our Lady of the Assumption, the 12th century church is a listed building. Metz-le-Comte is on the Camino de Santiago, 15 km from Vézelay. Champagne is the hamlet to the south edge of the plateau in and dominates a part of the valley of the Yonne.

A small vineyard also offers Chardonnay, a grape of interest to the "Melon", to be discovered.

François Mitterrand stayed in Champagne in the fifties before going to Chateau-Chinon.

Before going to taste the melon, making the trek 10 km through the Sardy House of God and the Forges, a circuit implemented by the Community of Communes "Fleur du Nivernais."

Visit of the church on Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning.
