TOWN PRESENTATION
  • A few words of history ...
  • In the year 300 AD when the Romans occupied Gaul, a legionary (Massius) was granted by Emperor Maximilian, for his merits and his bravery, Gaudon Mount and its surroundings. He moved there with his family and built a villa. It is from this period that the city took the name of Massy.
  • In 555, the time of the Merovingians, the rich agricultural area Massy is offered as a gift, by Childebert at the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Pres.
  • 600 is based in a town that will develop over the centuries, despite the vicissitudes of time.
  • In 1216 the castle is built of Vilgénis, which Prince Jerome Bonaparte became the owner in 1852.
  • In 1777, Louise La Porte, Baroness Massy, married Prince Grimaldi of Monaco. Today, Prince Albert of Monaco is also the second title of Baron Massy.
  • In 1900, account Massy 1200 inhabitants who live according to country traditions.
  • 1923 remains a milestone in the history of the city, which has finally electricity.

  • Pierre Picard, Inspector of telecommunications, invented the method of multiple transmissions on a single wire.
  • Paul Bailliart, ophthalmologist at "fifteen to twenty" in Paris. Lecturer. Former Mayor of Massy published in 1947 the book "History of Massy.
