The common Marlens lies in the extreme south-west of the Aravis mountains, a few kilometers northeast of Faverges. The river passes the chair in plain Marlens.

It is mentioned in the act of Donation of Lothair II, his wife Thieteberge, in 867 of the Burgundian house villa Marlindam originally named current Marlens.

At the historical level, it is important to note that in 1821 the population spontaneously and freely participate in the construction of the road Ugine-Faverges about 7 kilometers. In 1901 a station was built (including railroad from Annecy to Ugine). Today the missing track was transformed into a cycle track.
