As the name suggests Marcilly is located near the Eure. It is at the crossroads of Dreux in Saint-André-de-l'Eure and Damville Houdan to the forest of Dreux.
Marcilly is Norman, but his situation is unique, both in terms of administrative geography. It is the border between the departments of Eure, Eure-et-Loir and Yvelines, which fall into three administrative regions: Haute-Normandie, the Centre and the Ile-de-France, and three academies Rouen, Orléans-Tours and Versailles for Education.

Around 1137, William of Marcilly Fulk and his father founded the Cistercian abbey of Breuil-Benoit under the patronage of Our Lady and St. John the Baptist. After Marcilly come families Estouteville, of Alegre, the Fay, of Dyel. Antoine du Bosc was the last lord of the village. In 1140, monks of the abbey of detached Breuil went to found the abbey of Trappes.

- Marcilly-sur-Eure is located in a region full of history, close to Ivry-la-Bataille, Anet and Beauce with its cities of Dreux and Chartres. The nearby forest of Dreux welcomes you with its white knight, guardian of a treasure hidden in the castle ruins of Robertière.
- The Perch and thyme are not far away and the sea can be a goal of walking for a day.
- The other side of the Eure, Fort Harrouard, crossed a spur is a mecca archaeological Bronze Age. An entire room in the museum of Saint-Germain-en-Laye is devoted.
