Very pretty village with a lake Correze of great beauty.

The village stands on a relatively wide plateau surrounded by the gorges of Doustre, the Luzège and Dordogne.

The name comes from Marcillac Marcilius own name, from Latin or Roman, and Croisille mean "small cross". In the 12th century there were two churches: the church Tall Marcillac, the lower church, La Croisille, then these municipalities merged to form a single.

The present church was rebuilt in 1860 and recalls the shape of his ship, a barn with three spans. The slope of the roof allows a slate roofing, portal type Limousin has a curious slab lintel glass windows sized, semicircular (five and five north to south), are decorated with beautiful stained glass glass tiles, its flat head is pierced by two bays, also neo-Romanesque. The gate tower, square at the top level, becomes octagonal in its upper part. It is surmounted by a spire covered with slate. Bouyeure's house on the town hall square, dates from the early 18th century.

The tram county "the Transcorrézien" (channel-Ussel Tulle from 1913 to 1960) has long crossed the small town which has developed mainly built along the route. The train passed over the viaduct Lantourne remarkable bridge Truss, who today became only road (D131).

Marcillac said Dam (hydroelectric plant Valletta, 1949) is on the neighboring commune of Saint-Pardoux-la-Croisille.
