Maillezais is one of the most beautiful gateways to the Marais Poitevin.

The boat trip is a must.

Located in the heart of the Marais Poitevin classified site, this historic village and its rich abbey of the eleventh century have contributed to the creation of this landscape.

The monks of Maillezais which, together with 4 other abbeys, will start and run large reclamation in 1217.

Today you can go on their trail, by boat, to explore this stunning landscape, entirely designed by men.

Old Port: A whole area entirely pedestrian, stroll to the ruins of the Abbey, or enjoy a specialty on the terrace of a restaurant from watching the boats. Also one of the best starting points for you "lose" a few hours by boat or canoe in such incomparable.
