DETAILED INFORMATION

The town hall is one of the most imposing monuments of Lyon, listed building since July 12, 1986. It is located near the Place de la Comedie and overlooks the square of Soils.

The construction of City Hall lasted 26 years, from 1646 to 1672, built by architect Simon Maupin. In 1674 a fire destroyed the first monument. Jules Hardouin-Mansart and Robert de Cotte are responsible for drawing new plans and change the facade of City Hall. On 14 July 1803, another fire seizes the monument, it will be renovated under the Second Empire.

The City Hall is accessible by subway line A - City Hall station.
