• History:

• Luzinay initially carried the name "Illin, Mons and Luzinay" as revealed in the oldest register of the city council (8th Year - 1800) and the cadastre of 1825. It was in 1833 or later than in 1834, the name of Luzinay, alone, was officially adopted to designate the town. The name comes from the name of a great Gallo-Roman Lucenus who gave Luceniacum which both derive the name of that Luzinay Luzenac, a small village in the Ariege. Another version gives us Lusiniacum which means nightingale.
• The resident Luzinay are called respectively Luzinaisards, Luzinois then and now, again Luzinaisards.
• Luzinay has a significant past, but alas! very poorly known, although its municipal records are abundant. The territory belonged to the Middle Ages to the powerful lord of Illina whose remains of the castle, camped atop a hill overlooking the valley of the Seven, is now the territory of Villette de Vienne. The castle was destroyed like so many others, by order of Richelieu in 1633. In 1740, the lordship of Illina was in the hands of the famous financier Claude Paris Mountain, and the family of Languedoc Portales, in the person of Louis-Hercule de Portales, who bought and Serpaize Illina to Paris in 1750, and retained until the Revolution.
• Another castle existed Luzinay, less important, that of Mons. There was the castle of Neve, indeed only fortified house, built in the early 16th century by the family Musino which must also have this other house that is strong in the Blanchonnière Chuzel.
• Before the revolution, the future common Luzinay was shared mainly between three parishes: Luzinay, Illina and Mons. There were three churches, three presbyteries, three cemeteries and three priests. However, the population was low: 721 inhabitants. In the reorganization of the religious France in 1802, only one "branch" was left for all of Illin, Mons and Luzinay, located at the "village", ie to Luzinay. The church Luzinay had suffered from insufficient maintenance during the revolution, and moreover, it is considered too small. Therefore, in its meeting on August 28, 1820, the council decided to build a new church. It was completed in October 1823.
• More recently, a significant event marked the life of Luzinay In 1926, he had to yield a triangle of land on the southwest corner of the town, an area of 300 hectares with Castle Neve, Serpaize who gained access to the communal dignity.

• Geography Luzinay:

• District of Vienna-North district of Vienna, 8th district, department of Isere (38200), has an area of 1896 hectares, 34 hectares of forests. The surrounding communities are Saint-Just-Chaleyssin Valencin and east, Villette de Vienne in the west, north Chaponnay, Serpaize Septème and south.
• The village center is located on a plateau at 220 meters from sea level, the surrounding hills have an altitude of 360 meters.
• The length of local roads is about 42 kilometers and a density of 115 inhabitants per km ² in 2006.

• The chapel Illina:

• The chapel is listed as a former parish of St. Jean Baptiste Illina. The first records date from the ninth in 889. Historically, it is part of a package including the castle, farm, chapel and cemetery in Illin, a fortified house in Mons.
• Cemetery: anthropomorphic form and the presence of vertical slabs could evoke the late Middle Ages.
• The chapel, the nave of rectangular plan is for the eleventh, the apse date of the 12th and 14th by the ceramics and 13th by the figures, silhouettes discovered under the plaster.
• Over the centuries many visible improvements have succeeded.
• In 2002, the municipality and the association of the chapel Illina "undertake to study, preserve and enhance this heritage.
