TOWN PRESENTATION

From the Middle Ages to the Revolution, was part Lorentzen County Sarrewerden (Germanic empire at that time). The village, like the rest of the county, is attached to France in 1793. Lorentzen now part of the department of Bas-Rhin (Alsace), and has about 250 inhabitants. Located halfway between Metz and Strasbourg, at the gates of the Parc Naturel Régional des Vosges du Nord, Lorentzen offers many opportunities for discovery of Alsace and Lorraine.

SIGHTSEEING

The common Lorentzen has a remarkable heritage. Its plain castle built between 1328 and 1334 is now divided into 7 different private properties, and lived. The outbuildings have been restored through the creation of an initiation center for nature and culture. The old tithe barn (eighteenth century) houses since 2008, the "Barn in Landscapes" (tourist office, permanent exhibition "Landscapes of Secrets", teaching spaces, library corner ...). As for the old mill castral (XVIII), which ceased trading in the 60s, it now contains an area of restaurants and accommodation for groups.

Many activities are offered throughout the year: conferences, nature club for children on Wednesday, children and teen trips, home school courses for adults discovery of nature, discovery outings, festival landscapes ...

EVENTS AND CELEBRATIONS

A classical music festival is organized every year (late June / early July) in the courtyard of Lorentzen. This festival Schlosskonzerte "offers 4 to 5 dates for international programming.

Each year, in June, the festival Landscape allows the public to be aware of the impact of human activities on landscapes through exhibitions, lectures, tours, concerts, plays, etc..

ATTRACTIONS, LEISURES AND ACTIVITES AROUND

Many activities can discover Alsace Bossue: over water in flat-bottomed boats, for the sky plane, walks in carriages or on horseback. The rich heritage of Alsace Bossue delight young and old: farm, visits to castles, impressive churches, walking on trails or other archaeological sites with tasting sandwiches Gallo-Roman! Alsace Bossue, especially Lorentzen, have a central location that allows visitors to access in a radius of twenty miles Pays de Bitche (citadel, works of the Maginot Line ...), Country of glass and crystal (center of Meisenthal glass, crystal, St. Louis), Pays de la Petite Pierre (castle, museums, excursions ...).
