In southern Brittany, Cornwall and the Bigouden (5 km from Pont l'Abbé) Loctudy is located at the mouth of the river at Pont l'Abbé on the Bay Bénodet facing the Archipelago Glenan.

In the 5th century, some monks sent or carried by a certain Tudy, have built a monastery Enez-Tudy, a small island at the entrance of the Teir.

The first monks who deal in favor of Brittany islands or easily defensible locations, at the entrance of bays or rivers, to establish sy.

In the 11th century, the establishment of a new and important religious community and the building of a monastery church is an important milestone for the development of the town.

In the 14th century, Loctudy appears isolated.

In 1790, the parish, which then extends up to the castle of Pont l'Abbé, became a municipality. The limits of its area is reduced and fixed permanently.

From 1830 and for over a century, a period of relative prosperity sets in, due to intense agricultural activity, partly vegetable, but primarily focused on a near monoculture of potato.

Following the Second World War, agriculture declines, and the common reconverted in maritime activities.

Loctudy became one of the largest ports in the country Bigoudin for fishing as well as for leisure marine-related.

Specialty gourmet emblematic Nephrops known locally as "the lady of Loctudy" and all recipes for fish, crustaceans (crabs, lobsters, spiders ...) and fresh seafood.
