TOWN PRESENTATION

The town of 447 inhabitants of Limeyrat. Due to its geographical position, it lies on a geological fault. Varied landscape from arid and rocky slopes, south, rich soil and clay, those of the Cretaceous to the north (the Jurassic limestone plateau) the hills covered with chestnut, white oak or softwood.

The climax, in Chalard, is 243 meters from where you can see, in clear weather, the mountains of Auvergne. Nearby, at a place called Red House was without doubt a stop on a Roman road.

Route of Canons made a brief detour on the town, it nevertheless provided a large amount of charcoal with roots in the large forest, consisting mainly of oak and hornbeam.

You can, thanks to hiking trails, discover the Levada Pierra, recumbent stone and dated the 5th millennium of scientific interest. A nice little borie keeps him company in this magical place where you can picnic in peace.

Remarkable flora and protected, a variety of wild orchids can be observed but not particularly picked.
