Since the 70s, the city of Herbiers confirmed its status as capital of high Vendée. The city lies at the heart of a vibrant and attractive, a rise due to the entrepreneurial spirit and success of a marriage between a multitude of innovative SMEs and large companies in national and international dimensions.

Les Herbiers is the 4th largest city in Vendee with more than 15 500 inhabitants and 11 800 jobs (3.3% unemployment rate, the French record!), Located inside the Community of Municipalities of the Land of Herbaria. Given this demographic and economic dynamism, many facilities have emerged to meet the needs and comfort of each, with the aim to provide quality spaces, friendly environment.

In 2007, the City of Herbiers received the National Award for urban art for its operation of the Pellinière Valley, an area model in terms of contemporary architecture and environmental approach.

• Abbey of Grainetière: 12th century Benedictine abbey founded in 1130 by the Benedictine monks of Saintonge. The Abbe Prevost wrote to several pages of his novel Manon Lescaut. Historic Monument, the abbey houses since 1979, a small monastic community. Visit possible.
• Visit the mill Alouettes: the Mont des Alouettes, find a windmill still in operation, visit April to September.
