The village of Fourgs is the highest in the department. It is located at 1100 m altitude in the Swiss border and is called the roof of the Haut-Doubs. There are about 1200 residents and is composed of several hamlets: The Small Fourgs, Haute-Joux, Les Granges Berrard, Les Granges Bailly and The Cup.

Agriculture: many farms, consisting mainly of dairy cows with the most common breed in this region is the Montbeliard. This farm produces the manufacture of various cheeses such as Mont d'Or, Morbier and the county, all manufactured in the village.

Industry and Crafts: French leading manufacturer of trays, wood working with a sawmill, a bushel and a woodcarver and many building tradesmen?

• Many hiking trails and mountain biking trails from the village.
