Les Assions, a small rural town (4 km Vans) covers approximately 1,500 hectares and is part of the Parc Naturel Régional des Monts d'Ardèche.

Limited to the south by the river Chassezac commune (geologically rich) stretches on the lower half Cevennes Area (stoneware), half on the set of the Fat (limestone area), in contact with two separate geographical areas, the Cévennes and Lower Vivarais itself.

To the west and north, small rivers running down to the Chassezac have emerged in the hills of soft rocks, sandstone, marl and clay that overlies the picturesque chapel of St. Apollonia (327 m), monadnock kept fairly typical in before the Bold Coast, where soldiers of the country, back from the Napoleonic wars, erected a chapel in 1817.

From this peak, one can discover a remarkable 360-degree panorama across the town and far beyond. You can see the beautiful and imposing buildings in sandstone scattered in numerous villages and also distinguish the terraced vineyards and olive trees sometimes.

On this plateau, one can admire numerous Capitel (former shelters shepherds), low stone walls running dry ...

Dependent on the Mediterranean climate and exposure conditions favorable, it contains plant species typical: olive, cade, oaks, aromatic plants ...

The vine is the main crop with a renewed interest in the olive tree.

Many activities are available near Assions: walking, climbing, mountain biking, caving, horseback riding, but also canyoning, swimming, fishing and canoeing in the gorges of Chassezac.
