Léhon, located 1 km from Dinan in the picturesque valley of the Rance, retains a historical and religious relics which remind us of the important place held by the town in medieval times. The Benedictine abbey founded in the 9th century by the king of Britain Nominoë, the castle built in the 12th century on the hill overlooking the bridge and the houses of the town attract visitors who flock here since the 19th century.
Léhon is primarily shaped by the hands of monks, who established their monastery in a bend of the river Rance. The king and the lords Nominoë richly endow the monastic establishment, whose relics of St. Magloire provide spiritual influence until its closure in the Revolution.
The lords of Dinan establish their stronghold on the rocky outcrop to protect property of the abbey and the defense portion of the Rance.
The castle was dismantled in the 17th century. Rance and path Dinan Rennes promote trade and exchanges. The craft trades thrive: weaving sailcloth, tanneries, shops. The houses show a certain fluency: molded cornices and carved lintels. In the 19th century, the viaduct diverting traffic Dinan Rennes fosters the decline of the village shop.
Today Léhon has combined graceful old architecture and modern, to keep the memory of his past while engaging with the news.
By the edges of Rance finding Léhon is preferred. The visitor is struck by the majestic architecture of the abbey standing, proud, above the blue roofs of houses. Even the castle seems to give him precedence. Today, the abbey remains a privileged place of multiple cultural expressions. Everything here breathes the ancient memories: a historic place is not so much what we admire what a low voice, talks about ...
