SIGHTSEEING
  • The mill white symbol of the town, the mill was built in Leers 1852. Located rue Hoche, on the outskirts of the city, it closed in 1914 before falling into ruin. It was not until 1973 that the city bought it. She organized a referendum of Leersois who vote to 76% in favor of its restoration. Opened in 1976, he has been honored each year at parties du Moulin (the third weekend in June) where you can visit for free.
  • The Church of St. Vaast: High of 47 m, the Church of Leers the 13th century and dominates the square Sadi Carnot. Restored four times because of wars, the aisle still bears the date 1663, the year of renovation. Weakened by time, the walls of the tower in 1834 are connected by an iron corset. We speak therefore of "bell connected" to refer to the church. Finally, the building is constructed in accordance with the number of gold and the symbolism of numbers. In 2005, the work of security has been made by the City to strengthen the tower.
  • The Circle bourloire Saint Louis Listed as historic monument in 2006, part of the heritage bourloire Leersois. It was founded in 1891. We practice game Bourlès, known in the region since the Middle Ages. Location festive and friendly, the circle before St. Louis to continue the tradition of the game to Bourles Leers. Initiation possible throughout the year.
  • The local museum: Located rue du Maréchal Leclerc, the museum consists of Leers solely from donations. It covers various topics: archeology, history and customs border, industrial and agricultural history, world conflicts, religion, witnesses and objects of daily life, etc.. Managed by the association Leers history, it is open every first and third Saturdays of the month. Admission is free. Group visits are available by appointment.
  • The banks of the canal: Completed in 1893, the canal runs through the town of Roubaix Leers. Discontinued in 1985 following the decline of local industries, navigation was reopened in June 2011 thanks to the European Blue Links. Pleasure boats are now sailing on the brand, the Roubaix canal and that of Espierre, connecting on 28 km Deûle the Escaut, France and Belgium. River Heritage is all that is valued, with the restoration of bridges and locks. Real living for hikers, cyclists and riders, the canal bank are regularly the subject of many animations.
  • The brick: The brick of Leers was built in 1929. High-quality brick Leers is a solid brick fired at the old coal in a furnace ring Hoffmann. It is available in several formats. Its production was in part deliberately preserved traditional and most original techniques. Since 2005, the Hoffmann kiln has a kiln heat recovery enjoying the most advanced technologies and a supply of automated coal furnace. Next to the brick is the quarry from which are extracted materials (silt and clay plateau of Roubaix).
